Hyperlaser's ultimate is extremely loud and telegraphed. If you notice him, look for cover before he fires.
Rushdown Phighters such as [[Skateboard]] and [[Biograft]] can easily close the distance to Hyperlaser's position and exploit his inability to fight at close-quarters. Try to utilize cover or approach Hyperlaser while his attention is somewhere else to prevent him from poking you out before getting into range.
Boombox's Forcefield can absorb a decent chunk of poke from Hyperlaser and block his ultimate. Keep in mind that Pierce Ray can still damage allies through the shield.
