From PHIGHTING! Wiki

Demons are a race of humanoids who make up the majority of the inhabitants in the PHIGHTING! universe. They are characterised by oftentimes grayscale skin, horns on their head, and possessing the innate ability to wield a gear from birth.

Overview

Demons do not have biological sex or reproductive organs, and can reproduce only by sacrificing gear to The Spawn. Every demon is born with a gear which is a part of them, but they are able to lose or have this gear taken away without fatal results (such as Traffic). Demons instinctively know how to use their gears, and though uncommon, there can be duplicates of gears given to living demons. Biological siblings, outside of deity lineages, are extremely uncommon, with one of the only examples being Shuriken and Vine Staff - who's spawning was supposedly 'unusual'. Despite this, they may adopt non-biological families, such as Paint Buckét, Spray Paint and Rainbeau, who are adoptive siblings.

Otherwise, demons are spawned naturally by unique Spawns in their respective faction's home. There are no biological differences other than demons of specific factions having a tendency to different skin tones - for instance, Scythe, who is a Lost Temple native and has a darker skin tone than most other characters.

All demons, without exception, are born with horns. They can be partially removed and cosmetically altered, but if a demon were to lose the entirety of their horns, they would die. Demons often style their horns, whether by carving them into specific shapes (such as Rocket, who carves his horns to resemble Zuka's) or by dyeing or painting them, similar to how humans style their nails. Younger demons will regrow their horns quickly, but older demons won't at all - this can be seen in Hyperlaser, who's horns were almost entirely removed. Demons sometimes engage in horn fights, and are known to further accessorise their horns with jewellery and other adornments.

Demons are not required to sleep or eat, but are still able to and are seen partaking in cafes and restaurants, though the only waste they produce is sweat. Demons sleep in netted beds, much like hammocks, to accommodate for their horns. Demons have an average lifespan compared to humans, though descendants of deities may have longer lifespans than mortal demons. Despite their abilities, they are organic beings and are capable of getting sick and dying naturally, with many young demons dying due to the violent nature of the world around them.

The Swords

The Swords, also known as the deities, are a subspecies of demons based on the Swords from the ROBLOX game series, Sword Fight on the Heights. They are biologically very similar to regular demons, but are separated by the fact they are immortal, have wings, and are able to spawn children without the need to sacrifice gear to The Spawn. They possess powerful abilities and are able to control forces of nature, such as fire, wind or even the undead. Immediate descendants of The Swords are able to inherit their characteristics, such as in the case of Ban Hammer, who is Windforce's son and has a longer lifespan and is much more powerful than the average demon.

During Phights, the Swords appear during special rounds to enact their various powers on the playing field, allowing for changes and disruptions in gameplay. So far, every Sword other than Illumina and Windforce have a special round in game.
