Meta:Manual of Style

From PHIGHTING! Wiki

In the interest of making sure the PHIGHTING! Wiki is the best quality it can be, we ask editors to follow our Manual of Style when composing and editing articles. This manual serves to help editors when formatting and writing articles, and as such exceptions may be made if a different approach is necessary. When in doubt, you can always contact the wiki staff for help.

General

 • The wiki's language of choice is US English. Be sure to catch common differences between US English and other dialects such as UK English. I.e. Recognize over recognise, color over colour.
 • All information shared on the wiki should either be obvious within the source material, or stated by any of the developers. Speculation should be refrained from, and information from outside the game should be cited at all times.
 • The first instance of another article's name within an article should be linked, and all subsequent appearances of the name should not be linked. For instance, if 'Windforce' appeared three times in Ban Hammer's page, only the first instance should link to her article.
 • Descriptions of appearances, personalities, etc. should be objective and describe these concepts and items as they appear to the viewer. Where important, color should be specified (such as in a Phighter's design) to help those with visual impairments and colorblindness. If a character wears a specific item of clothing, i.e. from a non-US culture, these should be referred to with their names in those language unless a suitable alternative exists (i.e. Katana's haori).
 • In-universe spelling and capitalization should be observed - for instance, all OST tracks use full capitals in their names. PHIGHTING! is rendered as such, and many maps include capitals as part of their styling. More information on this can be found below.

Citations

Citations are important, as they allow users to have faith in our sources and information we share on the wiki. Citations are not required for information that is explicitly within the game itself, but anything from outside sources should be cited. As it stands, only the members of boggio (that is, aidn, Soda and Pix) are allowed as sources.

The ideal way to format sources is as follows, using Soda's social media as examples:

Twitter

 • @Soda_stuff on Twitter, 1 January 1970 ( Link | Image ) - "Include the exact quote you are citing" "If the quote is in multiple parts, such as a question and answer, feel free to use more than one set of quotes"

Tumblr

 • @soda-stuff on Tumblr, 1 January 1970 ( Link | Image ) - "Include the exact quote you are citing" "If the quote is in multiple parts, such as a question and answer, feel free to use more than one set of quotes"

Streams

Streams are a bit trickier, but ideally you should point to VODs from our stream archive page and include a timestamp. Note that because this is an internal link, it requires two sets of square brackets, not one.

 • Soda on stream at 17:09, 1 January 1970 - "Include the exact quote you are citing" "If the quote is in multiple parts, such as a question and answer, feel free to use more than one set of quotes"

Proper Nouns and spelling

Phighters and NPCs

Phighter and NPC names should always be capitalised, and should be formatted and spelled as they are seen in-game. I.e.

 • Ban Hammer, not Banhammer, BanHammer or Ban hammer.
 • Vine Staff, not Vinestaff, VineStaff or Vine staff.
 • The Broker, not Broker or the Broker.
 • Skateboard, Biograft, Slingshot, Hyperlaser, Medkit, Boombox and Subspace should all be written as one word and capitalised as shown.
 • Zuka, not B. Zuka, except where used in the original text.
 • Darkheart, Firebrand, Ghostwalker, Icedagger, Venomshank and Windforce should all be written as one word and capitalised as shown.

Maps

Similarly to Phighters and NPCs, locations and maps should be capitalised and formatted and spelled as they are seen in-game. I.e.

 • Crossroads, not The Crossroads or the Crossroads.
 • Thieves' Den, not Thieve's Den or Thief's Den.
 • Banland, not the Banland, The Banland, the Banlands or The Banlands.
 • DODGEBALL!, not Dodgeball! or Dodgeball.
 • Rob the ROBLOX Bank, not The Bank, the Bank or Bank.
 • BOGIO Skatepark, ROBLOX HQ, ROBLOX Laundromat, ROBLOX Mall and ROBLOX Museum should all be capitalised and written as shown.

One exception to this rule is Sword Fight On The Heights, which is displayed as SFOTH in-game, but is a shortened form of the map's full name. Use your judgement where appropriate.

OST

Names of original PHIGHTING! tracks should be written in all capitals as that is how they are written in-game and in their official releases. Mentions of tracks on pages should be in quotations, e. g., "ALLEGRO ESPRESSO".

Page Formats

All pages in specific categories have a base page format you can use to build your article from. You can find them below.

Phighters

All playable Phighters have one main page and five subpages. When referring to the Phighter's name, please use the magic word PAGENAME on the main page and ROOTPAGENAME on all subpages. This will automatically bring up the article's name, in the case it ever has to be changed.

Main page

The main page is the page found under the main /Phighter URL. This page is dedicated to the Phighter's in-game presence and gameplay, as this is the most important information for players. All Phighter main pages should consist of the following:

Phightersubpage

PAGENAME} is a melee/ranged/support Phighter. They were released on 1st January 1970 with V0.1.0.
