This page is about the game mechanic. For the original PHIGHTING! track, see "OVERTIME?!".

Overtime is a gameplay mechanic where the game allows a match to continue after the timer reaches 0:00. Each gamemode has a unique set of conditions for a match to go into Overtime. Overtime lasts indefinitely until one team satisfies a win condition to end the match in their favor. The buffs granted to players by the One Minute Left mechanic are retained in Overtime.

When Overtime begins, the track changes from the One Minute Left theme to "OVERTIME?!". If it is a 66.6x match, "SENSORY OVERLOAD" plays instead.

Overtime mechanics

  • Once a winning team holds the winning condition, a 10 second countdown will appear on-screen. If the losing team is unable to meet a condition to stop the countdown, their team loses.
    • When the countdown is stopped, the next countdown will start with 1 less second, down to a minimum of 3 seconds.
  • The match timer at the top of the screen is replaced with the word "OVERTIME".
  • The scoreboard stays hidden during Overtime.
  • The color of the countdown does not represent the winning team, but matches the color of the player's team.

Overtime conditions

Overtime triggers when both teams have an equivalent number of points. When one team gains a point during Overtime, the countdown will begin and the losing team must even the points to stop the countdown. In Annihilate, teams can gain points through the following methods:

  • Killing a player from the opposing team grants one point to the killer's team.
  • Dying to a killbrick grants the opposing team one point.

For Overtime to trigger, the zone must be currently contested or have been captured by the losing team within the last 2 seconds of the match. The definitions for each condition are as follows:

  • Contested - An equivalent number of players from both teams are occupying the zone.
  • Captured - The amount of players occupying the zone for one team is greater than the other team's amount.
    • When the zone is captured, it is outlined in the color of the occupying team.
    • The zone will accumulate points for the team that has captured it.

In order for a team to win in Conquer, they must meet 2 conditions:

  1. They must have more points than the opposing team.
  2. They must maintain capture of the zone for the duration of the countdown.

The countdown can be stopped if the losing team contests or captures the zone.
