DODGEBALL!

From PHIGHTING! Wiki

DODGEBALL! is a map in PHIGHTING!.

Overview

DODGEBALL! is a hybrid, small gymnasium-themed map containing mats which serve as cover for both teams to utilize. The mats are generated based off of the layout which is chosen randomly. There are two spawns areas, both having two exits beside each other. In both spawn areas, are lockers, above them are text which states the name of the layout that was chosen for the map. To the left and right side of the map is a narrow locker room which can be utilized for both cover, and a route for flanking. Somewhat similar to Sword Fighting Tournament's, DODGEBALL! has two scoreboards found on the left and right walls facing each other, and the conquer zone. The conquer zone is in the center of the map.

Gameplay features

The obstacle placements on the map are randomly selected from a set of seven configurations. Each spawning room indicates the current configuration of the map. The configurations are named:

  1. Standard
  2. Ramp
  3. Tea Party
  4. Ring
  5. Balance
  6. Ridge
  7. Closing Hours

Setting

DODGEBALL! is set in a gymnasium with a high symmetrical sun roof and several light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. Inside the two spawn areas are lockers, two entrances to the court, plants next to them, and graffiti. The court's walls have red and blue colored markings that separate the entirety of the court, and bogio logos on opposite sides. Similar to Sword Fighting Tournament's, DODGEBALL! has two scoreboards facing each other. The court itself features a basketball hoop between both spawn areas, along with mats and bleachers placed based off of the current layout of the map. On both sides, to left and right of the spawn areas, are entrances to a locker room, inside it is a short wall separating the middle of the room. One side features lockers along the walls, while the other has shelves, and three exits. The room has benches spread out forming a rectangle.

Tips

Certain layouts like ring & balance can be good for AOE/area denial attacks, whereas layouts like ramp are great for characters like Skateboard.

The locker rooms can be used for flanking, and a safe route to move from one side to next, avoiding chaos that may go on in the center of the map.
