Background
Subspace is the head of the robotics division in Blackrock and was also a scientist studying crystals and their energy. His gear is the subspace tripmine that is modified with crystals empowering it with poison. He is the creator of the Biograft which are now common in Blackrock's armies and employs one to partake in Phights along with hiring a mercenary Hyperlaser. His body is actively deteriorating and rotting, it being most present on his right arm and exposing bone. He is sworn enemies with Medkit owing to a past coworking with him and implied in lore that Medkit was responsible for his rot.
Appearance
Subspace's first set of pink horns starts at the backside of his head, curling around the side of his head before winding upwards; tapering into sharp points to frame his glowing pink, star-shaped, crystal with the glow dependent on his mood. His second, smaller set starts below the first directly on the side of his head and winds forwards, curving upwards much the same way as the first.
He wears a grey gasmask with red accents. An eyepatch is over his left eye, the strap going over his head to underneath his gas mask. He wears a black and dark grey, slanted bengal-striped, sleeveless tanktop. Over his right arm, he wears a grey one-sleeve shoulder wrap with an intricate Greek-key pattern indicative of Blackrockian designs, red accents, and two grey clasps on the strap over the front of his torso. Two bands criss cross on his right thigh. He wears dark gray boots with pink soles.
Personality
Subspace is very sadistic and maniacal. He is loud and obnoxious, especially towards Medkit, leading many of the Phighters to be apprehensive with him. He constantly taunts his enemies in Phights. His dialogue in-game is always characterised as ending with a pair combination of exclamation marks or question marks following his tone of voice. However, he is seen with dialogue ending in periods in media outside of the game. He is only sycophantic if it absolves him of fault such as him towards Ban Hammer to get on his good side but is failing at doing so.
Lore
In the past before the game takes place, Subspace and Medkit used to work together in Blackrock as scientists studying the crystals dug up in the region. The uses of crystals has multiple applications. In Subspace's case, he wanted to use it counter to Medkit wanting to use it for good resulting in an incident in which Subspace rips out Medkit's eye and Medkit doing something to him that caused his rot in self-defense. Medkit escapes Blackrock and Subspace has sworn to kill Medkit ever since.
He then goes on to becoming the head of the robotics division and creates the first Biograft, refining the design to the current Zetagraft and Betagraft design. The former being used more generally while the latter is the tankier subset. They are powered with the self-same crystals he researched. He's also modified his gear with the crystals to the poisonous traps in-game with his Phinisher being his self-stated greatest invention. He tests his inventions on living demon subjects.
He works alongside Hyperlaser whom has his own reasonings to be doing so.
Interactions
- Subspace is affiliated with Biograft as his creator and let slip him as his child in dialogue and Hyperlaser as his employer.
- Subspace was previously coworkers with Medkit working on the crystals. Now they are sworn enemies.
- Even when they worked together, they never liked each other.
Trivia
- Subspace has spiky teeth.
- The bottom half of his face and the inside of his mouth are rotting.
- Because of this, he has lost his sense of taste.
