" Can't catch me! "

- Slingshot's Ultimate Catchphrase

Overview

Slingshot is the 4th Phighter in PHIGHTING!

Slingshot is a very straightforward class to play as in Phighting, as the skills you would need would be basic predictability (the ability to predict where people would go) and decent aiming, however, Slingshot can show to have more depth than just being a fast ranged phighter with lots of mobility. Slingshot acts like a semi close-range sniper, as their abilities force Slingshot to act like a sniper, but LMB allows Slingshot to move closer to the fight than a more contemporary sniper. Its ultimate is where you need slight prediction skills as you cannot aim while firing the ultimate, but in some smaller maps, EX: Dodgeball or Sword Fight On The Heights, it can show amazing crowd control potential. And alongside that, phighting

Strategy

Please look at the table below before reading this to better understand the strategies for Slingshot as a class.

Slingshot, as a class, can sometimes act like a backline unit, or sometimes like a semi close-range ranged class. To fully utilize Slingshot's potential, you must utilize both of these playstyles to be effective. Let me explain why both of these types of Slingshots exist, first off, the semi close range ranger; Slingshot's mobility and semi close-range attacks like Q and LMB allow it to attack at a medium distance away from the fight, which doesn't punish the player due to its mobility. Although these attacks do force Slingshot into developing into a semi close range sniper / ranger, Slingshot could just as easily move back into a sniping area to start becoming a long-distance ranger, as their ultimate and RMB force it to stay at long distances, of which the game would punish the player for using these at close ranges, as it makes you more vulnerable to attacks during a fight. Slingshot's mobility does not benefit for its long range but allows Slingshot to switch between these types of attacks, as Slingshot could move back into the backline and just as easily move back into the midground if the situation demands it, making it more versatile as an attacker than most classes.

Matchups

  • Skateboard: It is best advised to avoid skateboard due to its high speed which makes it harder to aim and hit with almost all of Slingshot's attacks, and as skateboard is lacking in vertical mobility, use that to escape from your skateboard opponent with your advantage over verticality.
  • Sword: sword usually doesn't pose to much of a threat from a good distance away, but if sword were to get to a close ranged distance of you, you would want to get away as soon as possible, using any kind of leverage over mobility to escape to safety, whether that be creating a larger distance between both of yourselves, and to the safety of your team.
  • Medkit: it is very annoying to kill a Medkit by yourself especially if they're skilled without the help of your team. That being said, 2v1's against a Medkit almost guarantee it dying unless it retreats back to its team. When Medkit is supporting a class then it is best advised to run away, the second best is to try and kill the Medkit, then attack the perpetrator, although this does require quite a bit of skill to pull off successfully, but if you're confident in your skills then this could also be a viable option.
  • Rocket: to be honest, Rocket can't really get in your way much, first of all when they're shield goes down, they're very vulnerable to your RMB / Secondary, and to just any attack in general due to their 50 hp, but mostly RMB since Medkits or boomboxes can't heal them if they die in one hit. but if a Rocket gets in your way, with both of you at full health and stuff, I think that it's just a matter of skill with slingshot that can decide the victor, if you know your stuff about slingshot and have decent aim and stuff, you should win, but there can always be that one person that's better than you, so all in all, just keep an eye on them for the best chance at killing them
  • Boombox: Kind of the same advice as Medkit. Don't attack it one on one unless you're skilled enough because honestly speaking, even if you're more skilled then the boombox, the boombox makes up for it with its pure absurd power to protect itself, and since it counters ranged very well, you probably won't kill it by the time it gets back to its team, which then you will probably die or escape with lower health. However, if you're paired with MELEE in particular, then you can go for the boombox without much worry. Basically, just don't attack it on your own because it would 1. take too long, or 2. get killed by the boomboxes team, but if there is a melee near you ignore everything I said and go for them.
  • Slingshot: This is the most skill-based matchup in my opinion, because unless you have a medkit or boombox with you, or the other Slingshot has lower health than you, it's quite literally an equal matchup. Some advice would be to dash just before he attacks using his RMB or Q because those are delayed attacks and if you've played slingshot or Phighting! for a decent amount of time, this won't be too hard to do. Another piece of advice, when a slingshot uses its ult, some slingshots even at high levels, still stay in place trying to aim for you, this makes them VERY vulnerable and easy to hit, so if a Slingshot does this, try to pile in some damage then. Other than that, just use whatever tips this page gives you to try and beat the other slingshot and remember this is more of a skill-based matchup, so the other slingshot could kill you no matter how skilled you think you are.

Abilities

Key Description Cooldown
Passive Can double jump and skywalk for 1.5 seconds after double jumping. Using an ability grants you a movement speed boost for a short duration. N/A N/A
LMB Slings a projectile that travels instantly. Does 13 damage at base. Damage falls off over distance. TBA
RMB The player holds still for a moment, and slings a projectile that does 50 damage on hit. This projectile can pierce enemies. If used in the air, the player will levitate for the cast-time. TBA
Q Performs a short hop, then fires a volley of 3 arrows doing 12 damage each. These arrows can ricochet off terrain and can only hit each enemy once. Similarly, using this while airborne will levitate the player for the cast-time. TBA
E Performs a lunge in the direction the player is facing in Dealing no damage to the enemy unlike Sword's lunge. The lunge may also act as the first jump when used to move slingshot from a state of standing on the ground into midair without jumping to do so. TBA seconds
F Gain a huge movement speed increase for 30 seconds. The player's LMB is replaced with three long-range lasers that deals 60 damage and ignores walls. The player can only use their passive and E until all lasers are fired, or 30 seconds pass without all lasers being used. 100/TBA seconds

Tips

  • Slingshot works best in narrow hallways, so if you find someone going somewhere like the side hallways in Dodgeball, then it is best to go after them for an easy kill, this is because in a hallway, aiming isn't so hard than it is in open spaces, making you able to hit them with your abilities and especially with your ult
  • Avoid close range melee classes like Sword or skateboard, as they could easily get close to you and kill you with their high dps, with swords shield regen per hit, and skateboards mobility, it's basically impossible to kill them one on one, coupled with the fact that it's harder to hit people closer to you. The best course of action against these classes is to run away to higher ground where they can't reach you, as they don't have much vertical mobility.
  • There are certain places in Maps where slingshot can be become a sniper using a vantage point, with the added bonus that not many other classes can reach to there. For example, you can get to the highest building in the Iron Cafe and on top of there you can snipe people on the scaffolding and the areas you can view on the bottom floor of the iron cafe.
  • [1]When you use your abilities ( Ult, Rmb, Q, and E ) most of them freeze you in place for a time, some even giving a very slight verticality ( Q and E ). Combining these and good timings you can gain a bit of a larger boost in slingshots mobility. However in places like Roblox museum and mall this tip proves basically useless, but in some places like Rocket arena ( And hopefully more maps with vantage points ) you can access the elevated corners of the map using a combination of your Q and E.
  • Aim good
  • When the opportunity presents itself, use certain piercing abilities to target multiple people for the most damage, this is most espieccaly true for Slingshot's ult as it should be used to hit at least 2 or 3 people as otherwise it would be a waste to only shoot one person. With also the benefit of having a higher chance to hit someone with your ult if you target more than one person
  • ( Will probably add more?!??! idk )

Trivia

  • The Catshot skin was made as a birthday gift for one of Bog Com's (Discord server) Admins, and Phighting! Character designer, @sodakettle, or just Soda
  • The Catshot Skin was the skin that required the greatest number of eggs to acquire during the Easter event, which would be 150.
  • Like all other classes, the Slingshot class is based off of an old Roblox gear, which would be quite simply the slingshot weapon which is one of the original brickbattle weapons, and there is also a slingshot gear from 2010 too.
  • It is canon that the reason that slingshot can walk in air for a short amount of time after a double jump, is because they are wearing " air Jordan's " which apparently allow this ability to happen.
  • As of 5/26/22, catshot is the only skin that changes the voiceline that appears when activating Slingshot's ult, which would be "Can't catch me :3"
  • Slingshot is canonically a sub in sex, as stated by one of the developers, pix, in the Boggio Community
  • the longest slingshot can stay in the air (not touching the ground) is 12 seconds in normal gravity, from the highest point in the game (doom spire)
