Boombox is a support Phighter that can utilize his wide access to displacement effects and defensive abilities to shake up fights and tank significant amounts of damage. Using Forcefield and Raining Tacos, Boombox can play on the frontlines as a pseudo-tank to start offensive pushes or to peel for his teammates. If timed correctly, Raining Tacos can turn fights into a team's favor thanks to the extra durability granted from the shield. On top of Boombox's tanking potential, his kit's abundant access to displacement status effects is beneficial for disorienting fights or to keep dangerous threats away from teammates.
Boombox's unique strength and specialty is off-set by multiple weaknesses. Boombox faces significant difficulty in approaching and dealing with mobile Phighters due to the lack of mobility options and range in his abilities. Only having a frail 150 hitpoints, Boombox is extremely dependent on Forcefield or Raining Tacos to keep himself healthy. Without these abilities, Boombox can be dispatched easily. His ultimate, Raining Tacos is extremely telegraphed. Enemies can avoid the AoE of Boombox's ultimate or kill him before he lands, effectively wasting it. Furthermore, Boombox players must also be mindful that their ultimate's slowness makes it unfeasible as an immediate response to burst damage.
Ability Usage
- Pulse

- Sound Wave
- placeholder
- Forcefield
- Position in front of your teammates to make the most of Forcefield.
- Forcefield can also be utilized to protect ranged Phighters, such as Hyperlaser in ranged exchanges.
- Jump Smash Move
- Use Jump Smash Move before Raining Tacos to gain additional height and extra damage.
- Pulse and Sound Wave can be used during the end-lag of the recast. Use it to squeeze in additional damage.
- Raining Tacos
- Be mindful not to use Raining Tacos at low health as dying before landing will waste the ult.
Counterplay against Boombox
Ranged Phighters with any source of mobility can outrun a Boombox. Backing away from Boombox limits his impact to Forcefield and Raining Tacos and prevents him from gaining charges for Sound Wave. On smaller maps, make sure to avoid backing yourself into a corner/dead-end.
A significant weakness to Forcefield is its open cylinder shape. Ranged Phighters such as Rocket or Slingshot can take up high ground and damage Boombox and his teammates without issue. In addition, shield piercing and AoE damage ignores the forcefield. Without Forcefield, Boombox is frail and can be taken out from the fight with ease.
Raining Tacos is extremely telegraphed and risky to use in the middle of a teamfight. If you see a Boombox attempt to use it at low health, kill them. If Boombox is too healthy to kill in this state, the best option is to back out of the area or seek high-ground to avoid the damage. Moreover, ranged Phighters with hitscan projectiles such as Hyperlaser and Slingshot have the opportunity to shoot down the mid-air Boombox.

- Bass Drop is the only Phighter badge that is obtainable outside of the main game.
- Boombox is the only Phighter to lack a passive.
