Overview

Hyperlaser is a zoner that plays like a sniper. It shoots enemies from far away while doing incredible damage. Hyperlaser can easily kill an enemy in just a few seconds, but if an enemy gets close its all over. Hyperlaser gets obliterated by melee classes such as Sword or Skateboard. Hyperlaser can also disable enemies to get away from a situation where the enemy is coming close to get away. Another downside is that Hyperlaser usually needs a good frontier to be decent. Overall Hyperlaser can do amazing damage from far away but gets slaughtered by close combat classes.

Counterplay against Hyperlaser

The sound effect before Hyperlaser fires Eviscerating Ray is extremely loud and telegraphed. The player is advised to look for cover before he fires.

Rushdown Phighters such as Skateboard and Biograft can easily close into Hyperlaser's position and exploit his inability to fight at close quarters. Utilize cover or approach Hyperlaser while his attention is on another part of the map to to minimize damage while getting into close range.

Boombox's Forcefield can absorb multiple shots from Hyperlaser and block his ultimate. The player should be aware that Pierce Ray can still damage allies through the shield.
