Below lists the history of additional versions implemented following the release of Playtest 4.

Initial release

General additions and changes

Phighter balance changes

Biograft:

  • Echo Execution
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Projectile goes through ally players.
      • Recast hitbox changed. Biograft now applies the dash damage to all nearby players.
  • Overdrive
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Can now be recasted to explode and end the Overheat status effects early.
      • Health decay can now kill the player.
    • Damage changed from 25 to 10-50 (based on current health).
    • REMOVED: No longer explodes on death.

Hyperlaser:

    • NEW EFFECT: Projectile goes through ally players.
    • Range increased from 300 studs to 1200 studs.

    • Splash range per rocket increased from 20 to 25.
    • Rocket landing time increased from 1 second to 1.25 seconds.

Skateboard:

      • Turning is no longer immediate, Skateboard now takes time to turn towards his direction.
      • Slopes no longer slow down Skateboard if he is above 20 walkspeed.
    • Maximum walkspeed increased.

      • Using the second cast at the end of the match no longer softlocks the player.
      • No longer locks the player into the dash animation in certain cases.

Boombox:

  • Shielding Amplifier
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Now grants Boombox and nearby allies a shield for 8 seconds.
      • The shield does not stack. If the new shield has more health than the old shield, it overwrites the shield. Otherwise the duration is refreshed.
    • Shielding increased from 10 * no. of charges to 15 + 10 * no. of charges.
    • Cooldown increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds.
    • REMOVED: No longer heals.

Hyperlaser:

    • BUG FIX: Using Rocket Barrage at the end of a match no longer softlocks the player.

Skateboard:

  • SLUGGISH!!
    • Maximum haste increased from 25% to 35%.
    • Self slow reduced from 50% to 35%.
    • Haste increase speed reduced by half.

Slingshot:

  • Sling Shot
    • NEW EFFECT: Now loses 1 damage for every 5 studs travelled down to 2 damage minimum.

Subspace:

  • Soul Stealer
    • NEW EFFECT: Subspace heals 20 health on assists.
  • Tripmine
    • BUG FIX: Other abilities can no longer be used during the start up animation.
  • {Abilitylink|SubspaceEOld}}
    • NEW EFFECT: Can now be canceled by recasting it after 0.5 seconds.

General additions and changes:

  • The game now uses voxel lighting instead of future lighting to improve performance.

Medkit:

  • Added new sound effects for Pirate and Sianachkit.
  • Rejuvenation Ring
    • Added a new visual effect for Sianachkit.
  • Divine Resurrection
    • Reduced the volume of the Phinisher's sound effect.

Rocket:

Skateboard:

  • Added new sound effects for Hoverboard.

Slingshot:

    • NEW EFFECT: Damage is not reduced for the first 50 studs the projectile travels.
    • Damage falloff increased from 1 damage per 5 studs to 1 damage per 3 studs.

  • Innate shield regeneration delay reduced from 10 seconds to 8 seconds.

  • Sianachkit is now purchasable for 50k Bux in Crossroads.
  • Divine Resurrection
    • BUG FIX: Divine Resurrection no longer fails to work if the player is using the Sianachkit skin.

Rocket:

  • BUG FIX: PJ Rocket now ragdolls on death.

    • NEW EFFECT: Execute threshold check now accounts for the Phighters current shield + health instead of health.
    • Hitbox size reduced from 3x3 studs to 1x1 studs.
    • First cast cooldown increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
    • Second cast cooldown increased from 10 seconds to 15 seconds.

Boombox:

  • Shielding Amplifier
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Boombox can only gain charges while Sound Wave is off cooldown.
      • Sound Wave shield now overwrites itself if the player or allies have a shield.
    • BUG FIX: Now shields allies as intended.

Skateboard:

    • NEW EFFECT: Cancelling Mist Walk immediately ends the haste buff.

  • The positioning of the UI has been adjusted.

Biograft:

  • Dual Swing
    • Damage reduced from 6 + 8 + 8 + 10 to 6 + 6 + 8 + 8.
    • Blink range changed from 6 studs to 3-6 studs (based on attack speed).
  • Echo Execution
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Echo Execution no longer executes if the enemy has a shield.
      • Execution threshold check once again accounts for health instead of health + shield.
    • Dash damage reduced from 20 to 10.
    • First cast cooldown reduced from 10 seconds to 8 seconds.
    • Second cast cooldown reduced from 15 seconds to 12 seconds.
    • BUG FIX: Echo Execution no longer goes into the second cast if the player fails to use the ability within the recast window and misses the second first cast.

Boombox:

  • Raining Tacos
    • NEW EFFECT: Multiple instances of Raining Tacos' shield no longer stack. If a Raining Tacos shield is already applied on a player, nothing happens.
    • Ult points increased from 100 to 125.

Medkit:

Bug fixes:

  • The UI no longer randomly freezes.


16 November 2022

3 versions released at 1:35 AM, 8:22 PM and 11:56 PM EST.

General changes and additions:

  • All explosion effects have been reenabled.
  • Hitbox changes:
    • Abilities that use box hitboxes will not damage players if they are behind a forcefield or out of line of sight via a wall.
    • Abilities with box hitboxes that affect teammates will continue to affect allies through walls and forcefields.
  • The following tracks were added to the game:
    • SEE YOU ON
      • SEE YOU ON plays during the lobby intermissions.
    • THE FLIPSIDE

Gamemode changes:

  • Conquer zone change now uses a cylinder shape instead of a sphere.
  • Overtime in Conquer now continues as long as one player from the losing team is on the point.

Map changes:

Boombox:

  • Protecting Overtone
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Now uses a open semi-cylinder shape instead of a cylinder.
        • The shield now follows the players crosshair.
      • The player can now look up and down to tilt the shield.
      • Now applies knockback force on activation
      • The player can now reactivate Forcefield to end its effects early, dealing damage and appling knockback force.
    • Health increased from 200 to 300.
    • Duration increased from 8 seconds to 15 seconds.
    • Size reduced from 40x10x40 to 30x10x15
  • Raining Tacos
    • Shield increased from 200 to 500.
    • Shield decay delay reduced from 5 seconds to 0 seconds.
    • Shield decay rate per tick increased from 0.5 to 2.
    • REMOVED: Slow no longer stacks.

Hyperlaser:

  • Eviscerating Ray
    • BUG FIX: Phinisher now charges again if the player hits all 3 shots.

Medkit:

Rocket:

  • Quick Rockets
    • Removed.
  • Rocket Shot
    • Projectile speed increased.
  • Charged Shot
    • NEW EFFECT: Knockback now scales based on how long the shot was charged for.
    • Vertical knockback increased.
  • Rocket Jump
    • Height increased from 25 studs to 30 studs.

Slingshot:

  • Quick Feet
    • NEW EFFECT: Double jumping no longer locks Slingshot out of abilities for 0.2 seconds.
  • Sling Shot
    • NEW EFFECT: Can now charge and fire shots while airbourne.

Sword:

    • Hitbox size reduced from 6x6x10 studs to 5x5x5 studs.


20 November 2022

General additions and changes:

  • All Phighters hitboxes are adjusted to match their size in-game.

Boombox:

Hyperlaser:

  • Voltaic Burst
    • Slow reduced from 50% to 25%.
    • Slow duration reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second.

Rocket:

  • Rocket Barrage
    • REWORKED:
      • Now fires up to 5 rockets at the players crosshair.
      • Deals double damage if the enemy is in the center of the explosion.
    • Damage increased from 20 to 25.
    • Radius per rocket increased from 20 to 25.

Skateboard

  • NEW EFFECTS:
      • No longer loses speed if Skateboard's current hitpoints are higher than his base hitpoints.
      • Skateboard is now forced to switch into Standing Form if he receives a slow of 25% or higher.
  • THE COOL, RAD, COFFIN!!
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Now has a 0.75 seconds window before Skateboard dashes.
      • Now plays a sound effect before dashing.
    • Dash delay reduced from 1 second to 0.5 seconds.

Subspace:

  • Max vulnerability increased from 50% to 75%.
  • Tripmine
    • Poison stop threshold changed from 10 hitpoints to 10% of max hitpoints.
    • Vulnerable applied increased from 10% to 15%.
  • Fallen Star
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Now applies a 25% slow for the levitation's duration.
      • AoE no longer rotates to the side if it is targeted to a shield or enemy.
  • Mist Walk
    • NEW EFFECTS: Haste no longer decays.
    • Haste reduced from 75% to 50%.
    • Detection range reduced from 25 studs to 15 studs.
  • Comet Carnage
    • Damage increased from 15 to 20.
    • Range increased from 50 studs to 75 studs.
  • Noxious Void
    • NEW EFFECT: Damage now applies a 25% slow.
    • BUG FIX: The badge 'experiment successful' now works.

Sword:

  • All-Mighty Axle Arc
    • NEW EFFECT: Now has a 0.75 seconds window before Sword throws his sword.
    • Casting time increased from 1.5 seconds to 2.25 seconds.
    • Explosion visual outline is more visible.
    • Increased the volume of the Phinisher.


21 November 2022

General additions and changes:

  • Map spawns now face the player at a fixed direction instead of the player's current direction.
  • If the same gamemode is played for two matches in a row, the third match will force a different gamemode to be played.
  • Player Phighter icons slightly adjusted.

Map changes:

Rocket:

  • Rocket Barrage
    • The Mega Barrage badge's condition was changed from 'fire 16 or more rockets from your Phinisher' to 'land 4 or more of your rockets during Rocket Barrage'.
    • BUG FIX: Phinisher charges again if the player does not fire all 5 rockets in the recast window.

General additions and changes:

  • All hitboxes now go through walls.
  • During the last 10 seconds of a game and during Overtime, a 10 second countdown will appear on the screen.
  • Overtime changes:
    • After a team's score is higher than the other, the opposing team has 10 seconds to even the score or a loss will be handed to them.
    • For every countdown reset, the countdown is reduced by 1 second down to a minimum of 3 seconds.
  • The health bar has received a visual overhaul.

Rocket:

  • Rocket Barrage
    • Radius per rocket increased from 25 to 30.
    • Center damage increased from 40 to 50.

Skateboard:

Subspace:

  • Soul Stealer
    • BUG FIX: Subspace can no longer survive instant kill effects if the passive triggers as he makes contact with it.

Sword:

  • Lunge
    • Hitbox size increased from 5x5x5 studs to 6x6x6 studs.
    • End-lag increased from 0.25 seconds to 0.75 seconds.
    • Dash power reduced from 40 to 27.
    • Dash force duration increased from 0.3 seconds to 0.5 seconds.
    • Grab duration reduced from 0.6 seconds to 0.5 seconds.
  • Dolphin Slash
    • Cooldown increased from 4 seconds to 6 seconds.

  • The Score Cap no longer causes a game in Overtime to continue indefinitely.

7 versions released at 1:50 AM, 2:20 AM, 3:05 PM, 3:45 PM, 7:02 PM, 8:29 PM and 9:11 PM EST.

General additions and changes:

  • More anti exploit fixes.
  • Pings now have a cooldown between uses.
  • The % chance for a 13x multiplier match was reduced from 10% to 5%.

Gamemode changes:

  • Annihilate
    • Dying to stage hazards/killbricks while at full hitpoints no longer awards a point to the opposing team.

Biograft:

  • Overdrive
    • NEW EFFECT: Killing an enemy during Overheat grants Biograft a 15 HP shield for 5 seconds.
      • BUG FIX: Biograft no longer gains shields when killing players while Overheat is not active.
    • Explosion damage increased from 10-50 to 20-50.

Boombox:

Hyperlaser:

  • Readded visual effects for Wireframe.
  • BUG FIX: The Witchlaser skin no longer bugs out if the player walks against walls. Trampolines now work properly on Witchlaser.

Rocket:

  • Rocket Barrage
    • REWORKED:
      • Now shoots 13 rockets in a star shape around the player's crosshair.
      • Radius per rocket reduced from 30 to 20.
    • BUG FIXES:
      • The rockets from Rocket Barrage no longer targets map roofs.
      • The rockets from Rocket Barrage no longer cause memory leaks.
      • The Phinisher no longer creates bricks in the area.
    • Reduced explosion effects.

Slingshot:

  • Quick Feet
    • BUG FIXES:
      • Slingshot can no longer triple jump by using the hover.
      • The player can no longer get stuck when hovering.
  • Leg Day
    • Damage reduced from 60 to 50.
    • Hitbox size increased from 10x10x500 to 15x15x500.

Sword:

    • Damage reduced from 14 + 18 to 14 + 16.
  • Blade Beam
    • NEW EFFECT: Blade projectiles no longer pierce shields. The thrust still pierces shields.

    • End lag reduced from 0.75 seconds to 0.5 seconds.

Bug fixes:

  • Players no longer look in another direction when they are within close proximity to another player.
  • Respawning no longer plays the lobby sounds twice.

  • The following tracks were added to the game.
    • LIGHTS OUT by Key After Key.
    • Unnamed track by Key After Key.
  • Map intro changes
    • The match intros now play a unique jingle, differentiating on normal, 13x and 66.6x matches.
    • Intros are sped up.
  • Health bars have received a visual overhaul and now display the innate shield of the player.
  • Map voting has received a visual update.
  • The visuals for the 10 second countdown have received an update.

General additions and changes:

  • The victory and defeat sounds have been changed.
    • Both sounds were created by Key After Key.
  • The match intro jingles were replaced with a newer version created by Key After Key.
  • The following track was added to the game.

Map changes:

Biograft:

  • Dual Swing
    • NEW EFFECT: Now has an overheat gauge, which is gradually filled by using Dual Swing.
      • Each swing generates 5 heat, up to a maximum of 50 heat.
      • Upon reaching 50 heat, Biograft explodes, doing 25 damage to himself, 15 damage to enemies around him, slowing him by 30% and making him unable to use Dual Swing for 2 seconds.
      • After 3 seconds of not using Dual Swing, the overheat gauge decreases by 0.5 per frame.
  • Overdrive
    • NEW EFFECT: The heat gauge for Dual Swing is disabled during the Phinisher's effects.

Rocket:

  • Rocket Barrage
    • Range per rocket increased from 20 to 25.
    • Rocket landing time reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1 second.
    • BUG FIX: The player can no longer fire the Phinisher during the animation, which caused the rockets to land in an unintended area.

Slingshot:

  • Quick Feet
    • BUG FIX: The hover no longer starts late.

Biograft:

  • Dual Swing
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • The heat gauge now constantly decreases by 3 heat per second, increased to 12 heat per second if Dual Swing was not used for 2 seconds.
      • Generates 3 heat if Dual Swing does not hit an enemy.
    • Damage increased from 6 + 6 + 8 + 8 to 6 + 7 + 8 + 9.
    • Overheat slow increased from 30% to 50%.
    • Overheat Dual Swing disable duration reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second.

Hyperlaser:

  • REMOVED: No longer has a face.

General additions and changes:

  • The Phighter select interface was reworked.
    • The Phighters no longer use icons and are displayed to the right side of the screen.
    • Changing your skin uses the left and right arrow keys instead of the scroll wheel.
  • Resetting your character now counts as a death if the player was damaged by an enemy at least once.
  • Deaths from killbricks or character resets now properly gives kill and assist credits.
  • Applying a shield on an ally player now grants assists if the shielded player kills an enemy.

Map changes:

    • BUG FIX: The skin specific effects are now replicated properly if the player joins mid-battle.

Bug fixes:

  • Map specific skies are now replicated properly if the player joins mid-battle.

  • One Minute Left
    • REMOVED: No longer grants all players a 28% haste buff for the remainder of the game.
  • Score Cap
    • NEW EFFECT: Score cap is removed during the last 15 seconds of the game and into Overtime.
  • Innate shields changes
    • Shield regeneration rate reduced from 15 per second to 10 per second.
    • BUG FIX: Shield regeneration rate is no longer affected by server lag.

    • BUG FIX: No longer flings enemy players when used in close proximity.

      • Now uses one hitbox instead of multiple that follow the player.
      • Speed decrease is now based on damage dealt and number of enemies hit instead of losing speed with any ability.
    • Damage changed from 10 + (speed/35 * 25)

    • NEW EFFECT: Now uses one hitbox instead of multiple that follow the player.

Subspace:

  • Soul Stealer
    • BUG FIX: No longer applies assist healing if a damaged enemy kills a teammate.

General additions and changes:

Boombox:

  • Pulse Wave
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Boombox now uses a metronome.
        • Timing Pulse when the two rectangles meet adds one charge and increases the number of additional pulses fired by 1 (max. 4) if an enemy was damaged.
        • In addition, Boombox and nearby allies are granted 25% haste for 0.5 seconds.
        • Timing it early or late will only fire one pulse, but a charge will be gained if an enemy was hit.
        • Missing the timing only fires one pulse.
        • The metronome is positioned under the crosshair.
      • Pulse now fires in a semi-circle instead of around Boombox.
    • Damage per pulse changed from 8 to 8 + (2 * no. of charges)
    • Knockback force per pulse changed from 8 to 8 + (2 * no. of charges)
  • Shielding Amplifier
    • NEW EFFECTS:
      • Now grants 12% * no. of charges haste for X seconds to Boombox and nearby allies.
      • Now displays number of charges on the ability hotbar.
    • BUG FIX: Now regenerates ally shields properly and only overshields if their shield goes above their maximum shield.
  • Raining Tacos
    • NEW EFFECT: Shield now decays 1.5 seconds after being applied.


Subspace:

  • BUG FIX: No longer randomly breaks.

General additions and changes:

  • Text size on health bars was increased.
  • The vulnerability status effect now uses a visual indicator when a player is above 25% vulnerability, gradually increasing in size until they reach 75% vulnerability.
  • Players can no longer press H in-game to display their abilities.
  • Players can now press H in the Phighter select screen to show abilities.
  • Players can no longer enter the Phighter select screen if they were damaged once in-game.
  • Kill feed changes
    • The icons displayed on the kill feed were changed and now match the actions that occurred between the two players.
    • Killing a player who last killed you now lists the kill as "revenge".
    • Killing a player who is using their Phinisher lists the kill as "shutdown".
    • Double, triple, quad and penta kills will be indicated to the player and the kill feed.
  • Killing all 5 players of a team in a short timespan now displays the "PWNED!" text.
  • The "PWNED!" badge was added to the game.
  • Bounce decay
    • Excessively using map elements that bounce such as trampolines reduces its power.
    • The player gains 2 full power bounces, and any bounce after is reduced by 1/4.
    • The bounce decay disappears after not using a bouncing element after 3 seconds.
  • Jump decay
    • After jumping 4 times, the player's jump height penalty is increased by 10% for each jump.
    • Jump decay wears off after 3 seconds of not jumping.
  • Healing a player at max health no longer grants Phinisher charge.
  • Phinisher was renamed to Phinisher.

General additions and changes:

  • Jump decay adjustments.
    • Jump decay now caps at 50% bound.
    • Jump decay increase reduced from 10% per jump to 5%.
    • Removed.
  • Improved clarity of the vulnerable icon.
  • If the player has least 3 kills, the game will display the player's killstreak in the killfeed.
  • Improved teleport transition between PHIGHT! Lobby to match.
